Austin defenseman Ryder makes NCAA commitment
April 30, 2019

The Austin Bruins of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Terry Ryder has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Adrian College.
Ryder, 20, played one season with the Austin Bruins where he helped anchor the blue-line as a veteran defenseman. The 6’1/190 lbs. native of Byron Center, Michigan, finished the season with five points and ranked third in games played for Bruins' defensemen with 53.
"I had a good experience in Austin," stated Ryder. "I believe the coaching staff prepared me very well to play college hockey and I'm extremely excited to start my next chapter at Adrian."
"Terry was a great addition to our blue line this year. We only had him for one season but he played like he was a seasoned veteran. He's an extremely hard worker and is dedicated to getting better every day. Adrian is getting a very coachable player and a great person," commented Bruins Head Coach Steve Howard.
Ryder follows in the footsteps of several former Bruins including Cory Dunn, Grant Baetsen, Matt Eller, Brian Bachnack, and Trevor Boyd, all of whom committed to and played for the Adrian Bulldogs.
"Academically and athletically, Adrian has everything I'm looking for. They have an unbelievable athletic training program while being a top team on the ice year in and out," Ryder said about his new school. "Coach Krug is great and I'm looking forward to playing for him for the next four years."
Along with Ryder, the Bruins have announced several other commitments this season including Garrett Dahm, Dante Sheriff, and Kyle McClellan to Mercyhurst University, Brett Miller and Dylan Davies to RPI, and Lane Krenzen to Denver University.
