Corpus Christi forward Coughlin makes NCAA D1 commitment
October 17, 2019

The Corpus Christi IceRays of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Ryan Coughlin has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Robert Morris University in Atlantic Hockey.
Coughlin, 18, is expected to begin his NCAA Division I student-athlete career with the Colonials (Atlantic Hockey) in 2021-22.
Coughlin, a 6-1, 185-pound, right-shot forward is the third current IceRays player to commit to a Division I school along with defensemen Brandon Cimino (Bentley) and fellow Robert Morris commit Tyler Orban.
The Rochester, New York, native has registered 10 points (7 goals, 3 assists) through 14 games this season, including two game-winning goals. On Monday, Coughlin earned his second Bauer Hockey/NAHL Star of the Week Honorable Mention through the first five weeks of the season.
“I could not be happier to commit and play for Robert Morris,” said Coughlin. “As soon as I stepped foot on campus, I felt it was the right spot for me. I instantly had a great connection with all the coaches and was really glad to see everything fall into place.”
“As a staff and program, we are thrilled to see Ryan take this next step in his career,” said IceRays head coach and GM Al Rooney. “He’s had an immediate impact for us on and off the ice as a player and person. (Current Robert Morris assistant coach and former IceRays head coach) Ryan Cruthers tendered him last season so the relationship and connection was already established between Ryan and the Colonials. I think it’s going to be a great fit for Ryan, and RMU is getting a quality student-athlete to add to their program. We couldn’t be happier for Ryan and his family at this moment.”
