Wilderness defenseman Johnson makes NCAA D1 commitment

The Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Kimball Johnson has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for Mercyhurst University in Atlantic Hockey.
Johnson, 20, is in his third full season of playing in the NAHL and first for the Wilderness. The 6’0/181 lbs. native of Dallas, Texas, is currently 5th in team scoring with this season 20 points (5 goals, 15 assists) so far during the 2019-20 season.
Johnson played in the 2019 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the South Division team, while a member of the Lone Star Brahmas.
“Kimball is an extremely dedicated athlete and possesses great leadership characteristics. We are extremely proud of his decision to continue his education and hockey career at Mercyhurst and wish him nothing but success,” said Wilderness Head Coach Jon Vaillancourt.
Prior to playing for the Wilderness, Johnson spent two full seasons playing for the Lone Star Brahmas. Overall in 144 career NAHL games, Johnson has recorded 50 points.
