Odessa defenseman Kimball makes NCAA commitment
March 3, 2020

The Odessa Jackalopes of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Spencer Kimball has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Amherst College.
“First and foremost, I’d like to thank my family,” Kimball said. “This wouldn’t be possible without the support of my parents, the support of my sister and my entire friends and family. Secondly, I’d like to thank my coaches, Coach Phillips and coach Smith for all of their help and guidance throughout this process. Lastly I’d like to thank my teammates who have helped and supported me throughout this whole year in helping me achieve my goals.”
A three-year veteran of the NAHL, Kimball, 21, has accumulated 17 points (one goal, 16 assists) in 131 career games whilst playing for three separate teams, including the Jackalopes.
The 6’0/190 lbs. native of Brighton, Michigan, most impactful contribution to the Jackalopes this year has been his consistent leadership and steady presence on the blue line. Kimball was named assistant captain, along with teammate Isaiah Huempfner, just after the holiday break in January.
“We are extremely happy for Spencer. Amherst College is such a prestigious institution academically, with a great hockey program,” said Jackalopes Interim Head Coach Adam Phillips. “It’s a perfect fit for Spencer, he’s a tremendous young man who any school and community would be lucky to have. We know he will contribute in a positive way at Amherst College in the classroom, community and on the ice.”
Amherst College plays in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, and is located in Amherst, Massachusetts.
“I’m very ecstatic to be able to continue my hockey and academic career at such a prestigious institution,” said Kimball.
