Saturday Scores: Nordiques, Brahmas post wins

Northeast 1 @ Maine 3 - The Maine Nordiques salvaged a weekend split with the Northeast Generals as the Nordiques took home a 3-1 victory on Halloween night. Liam McCanney’s third goal of the season put the Generals ahead after one period of play. Isaiah Fox found the back of the net for the fifth time this season to tie the game at one heading into the final period. Stefan Owens wasted little time as he scored just 94 seconds in the third frame to give the Nordiques the lead. Caden Pattison added a goal in the final seconds to put the game on ice for Maine. Avery Sturtz was the winner in between the pipes as he improved to 3-0 on the young season while Hugo Haas suffered his second loss of the year, putting his record at 2-2.
Lone Star 5 @ Amarillo 2 - The Lone Star Brahmas won their second game in a row after knocking off the Amarillo Bulls by a score of 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. John Lundy opened the scoring for Amarillo and they held a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of action. Then before the Bulls could blink, the Brahmas had the one goal advantage as Jack Collins and Nicholas Niemo scored 35 seconds apart in the opening minutes of the second period. Nick Dineen netted his first goal of the year on the power play to even the game heading into the second intermission. Collins would add his second of the game late in the third period to give the Brahmas the advantage for good. Joey Baez and Logan Cleary would add goals in the final minute to give Lone Star some insurance. Graham Burke grabbed the win in goal, making 31 saves. Max Gutjahr was dealt the loss as he made 18 saves.
