NAHL Weekend Preview

It is another busy weekend in the NAHL as Robertson Cup Playoff spots are starting to be clinched. With less than two months remaining until the start of the 2021 Robertson Cup Playoffs, points are at a premium in the final stretch of the regular season.
The 2021 Robertson Cup Playoffs begin the third week in May and the top four teams in each division will qualify for the post-season. The four divisional playoff winners will meet for the 2021 Robertson Cup Championship, which is scheduled to be held at Fogerty Arena in Blaine, MN, from June 18-22.
It was another great week for NCAA commitments, as seven more players announced their commitments to the next level. That brings bringing the current season total to 279 players (including a new record of 261 Division I commitments) who are playing in the league and are committed to playing NCAA hockey in 2020-21.
In the Central Division, the Minnesota Wilderness, who are on a three-game winning streak, host the league-leading Aberdeen Wings, who clinch the first playoff spot earlier this week. In the other series, Minot travels to Austin to face the Bruins, with the Minotauros looking to snap a small two-game slide. Bismarck and St. Cloud, who played on Thursday, both have the weekend off.
In the East, Danbury has a change to climb into the playoff picture with three home games against the 2nd place Maine Nordiques. The New Jersey Titans travel to Johnstown for a pair of games against the Tomahawks, with both clubs winning seven of their last 10 games. Maryland is at Northeast with both clubs needing wins to stay in the playoff hunt.
In the Midwest, with Janesville idle, the Minnesota Magicians look to move back into 1st place with a three-game series at Kenai River, as the Brown Bears are looking to snap a three-game losing streak. Streaks collide in Marshall, MN, as the Chippewa Steel look to snap a six-game slide against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, who have won three straight.
In the South, New Mexico and Lone Star tangle in a three-game set in North Richland Hills, TX this weekend, with the Brahmas looking to move back into 1st place. A potential playoff preview goes down in Wichita Falls as the 4th place Warriors host the 1st place Shreveport Mudbugs. The final series has the Amarillo Bulls hosting the Odessa Jackalopes.
