Shreveport forward Procopio makes NCAA commitment

The Shreveport Mudbugs of the NAHL are pleased to announce that forward Giovanni Procopio has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Aurora University.
Procopio, 21, just completed his second and final season of playing junior hockey in the NAHL with the Mudbugs. The 6’0/185 lbs. native of Grosse Pointe, MI, had his best career season in 2020-21 for the Robertson Cup Champion Mudbugs, recording 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists) in 55 games played.
He also chipped in six points (5 goals, 1 assist) in 10 Robertson Cup Playoff games, which included a goal and an assist in the Robertson Cup Championship Game.
“Gio is Mr. Consistency. We used him as a top penalty killer and on our power play. He has the ability to play and be effective at any forward position. A great leader who was clutch in this year’s playoff run. We look forward to see his success at Aurora,” said Mudbugs head coach Jason Campbell.
During the 2019-20 season, Procopio appeared in 35 regular season games and recorded 20 points. In two NAHL seasons, he played in 90 regular season games and had 60 points.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Procopio spent two seasons of playing 18U hockey for the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies.
