NAHL Weekend Preview

The NAHL is back in action this weekend with 25 games on Friday and Saturday as the push toward the Robertson Cup Playoffs is underway.
The NAHL has had a great run of NCAA commitments in recent weeks, including four this past week, bringing the current season total to 154 NCAA Division I commitments.
With the schedule over halfway done and the USA Hockey trade deadline looming in just a few weeks, the time is now for teams to make a move in the standings.
The 2022 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament is just a few weeks away and will take place from February 7-8 at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. The UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex is the practice home to the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.
The 2022 Top Prospects rosters and coaches will be announced next week.
This weekend in the Central Division, the Austin Bruins look to hold onto 1st place and continue their momentum as they have a home-and-home series with the St. Cloud Norsemen. The Aberdeen Wings have won four straight and look to continue their winning ways as they have a home-and-home series with Bismarck. Finally, the 4th place North Iowa Bulls are in Minot to take on the 2nd place Minotauros.
In the East Division, the surging Jamestown Rebels have won three in a row and have their sights set on Johnstown, who they are tied with for 3rd place as the two teams will do battle in Johnstown. The 1st place New Jersey Titans will host the Maine Nordiques, and the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks will host the Northeast Generals.
In the Midwest, it is the debut for new coach Dave Allison in Fairbanks as the 1st place Ice Dogs host Kenai River. It’s the battle of Minnesota as the Magicians and Wilderness tangle in a home and home series. Janesville is in Chippewa for a lone game on Friday night.
In the South, it’s another full slate of four games as the top two teams do battle when New Mexico visits Amarillo with the two clubs separated by just two points. 3rd and 4th place also meet as Odessa is in Lone Star this weekend with those two teams separated by two points as well. It is crunch time for the bottom four as they need wins to try and get into a playoff spot with Wichita Falls in El Paso and Corpus Christi in Shreveport.
