NAHL Weekend Preview

Fresh off another successful NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, which took place earlier this week on Monday and Tuesday in Pittsburgh, PA, the NAHL gets back to regular season action this weekend with 28 games on the schedule.
With the trade deadline and roster freeze dates now in the rearview mirror, it is an all-out sprint to the finish with the NAHL’s regular season ending in just two months.
It was another solid week for NCAA commitments as the league saw eight more players commit, bringing the 2021-22 season total to 182 total commitments.
This weekend in the Central Division, it is a home-and-home match-up of 1st and 2nd place teams as the Austin Bruins try and slow down the St. Cloud Norsemen, who have won 8 straight games and are just two points back of 1st place. The battle of North Dakota continues as Minot is in Bismarck with both teams needing points to stay in the playoff hunt. The final series has the North Iowa Bulls in Aberdeen with both teams tied at 43 points in the standings with 20 games to go.
In the East, the Northeast Generals will look for a weekend sweep of the Black Bears as they claimed the first game on Thursday, 3-2. In other action, the Johnstown Tomahawks look to continue their three-game winning streak with a pair of home games against Maine. The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks look to snap a four-game slide as they are in Jamestown for a two-game set.
In the Midwest, battle for the top spot resumes with Fairbanks in Chippewa on Friday and at the Wilderness on Saturday, as the Wilderness look to continue their winning streak. In other action, Springfield hosts Anchorage for three games and Kenai River is in Richfield to take on the Magicians. The Janesville Jets travel to Chippewa on Saturday.
In the South, winning streaks collide in North Richland Hills as Lone Star hosts Shreveport. The Amarillo Wranglers will look to snap an eight-game losing streak as they are in New Mexico for three games. El Paso is also looking to snap an extended losing streak as they are in Wichita Falls for a pair of games. Finally, the Odessa Jackalopes look to keep pace with the South leaders with two more games in Corpus Christi after coming away with a 6-3 win on Thursday night.
