Amarillo goalie Gutjahr makes NCAA commitment

The Amarillo Wranglers of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that Top Prospects goaltender Max Gutjahr has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Gutjahr, 21, just completed his third full season of playing junior hockey, which was spent between the NAHL and the NA3HL. The 6’1/180 lbs. native of Appleton, WI, was a workhorse for the Wranglers during the 2021-22 season, appearing in 39 games and posting a record of 18-15-3. Gutjahr was also selected to and played in the 2022 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament.
Gutjahr posted a 2.69 goals against average and a .911 save percentage during the season with two shutouts. He was named the NAHL’s goalie of the month in November of 2021, posting a 7-1-0 record in eight games during the month. Gutjahr stopped 254 of a possible 270 shots during the month, which was good for a 1.80 goals against average and a .938 save percentage. He was also twice named the NAHL’s South Division Star of the Week.
During the 2020-21 season, Gutjahr split time between the Amarillo Bulls in the NAHL and the North Iowa Bulls in the NA3HL, appearing in 17 games between the two teams.
During his rookie season in the NAHL with Amarillo during the 2019-20 campaign, Gutjahr had an impressive 20-4-1 record in 26 games played and was 4th in the NAHL with a 1.79 goals against average.
