Chippewa defenseman Bellina makes NCAA commitment

The Chippewa Steel of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Spencer Bellina has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Plattsburgh State in the SUNY Conference.
Bellina, 21, just completed his first full season playing in the NAHL and second season of junior hockey overall. The 6’2/196 lbs. native of Medina, OH, played for three NAHL teams during the 2021-22 season.
Bellina began the season with the Maine Nordiques, appearing in 10 games and recording three points. He was then traded to El Paso where he appeared in 25 games for the Rhinos and recorded six points.
At the trade deadline, Bellina was sent to Chippewa where he spent the remainder of the regular season, recording 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists) in 19 games played.
Bellina made his NAHL debut during the 2019-20 season, beginning the season with the Northeast Generals where he played in four games.
Prior to playing junior hockey, Bellina played youth hockey for the Cleveland Barons AAA program.
