NAHL Weekend Preview

October 7, 2022

The first full weekend in October has 24 games on the NAHL schedule.

The NAHL protected lists and rosters have been reduced to 24 players per team.

While it is still early in the season, standings remain tight. All 29 teams have won at least one game and there remains only one undefeated team remaining (Amarillo Wranglers).

This week saw seven more players make NCAA Division I commitments as the current season total is now up to 94 committed players.

In the Central Division this weekend, the Aberdeen Wings will try and slow down the red-hot 1st place North Iowa Bulls who come to town with a three-game winning streak. The St. Cloud Norsemen will look to get back to their winning ways as they face a tough road series in Bismarck. On Sunday, the Norsemen then travel to Minot for one game against the Minotauros. Austin is idle this weekend.

In the East this weekend, the red-hot and 2nd place Northeast Generals take their five-game winning streak on the road to face the Philadelphia Rebels. Danbury will have a tough task trying to snap their eight-game losing streak as they host 1st place Maryland. The Maine Nordiques are in New Jersey as they try to snap their five-game losing streak in a series against the Titans. Johnstown is idle.

In the Midwest, it’s a full slate of games with all eight teams in action. The games in Alaska face-off as Anchorage is in Fairbanks for the Ice Dogs home opener. The battle of Wisconsin resumes as the Chippewa Steel are in Janesville to take on the Jets. The Wisconsin Windigo will try and snap a five-game losing streak as they are in Cloquet for a pair of games against the Wilderness. The final series as the Springfield Jr. Blues hosting the Kenai River Brown Bears for three games at the Nelson Center.

In the South Division, the schedule is light only four teams are in action with the Lone Star Brahmas looking to extend their four-game winning streak in Corpus Christi against the IceRays. The other series has Odessa looking to snap a five-game slide as they travel to Shreveport for a series against the Mudbugs.
