NAHL Weekend Preview

After four days off and no weekday games, the NAHL gets back into action this weekend with 22 games on the schedule on Friday and Saturday.
Last weekend, the storylines were full of plenty of series sweeps as the division leaders continued to roll and extended winning streaks.
This weekend, teams at the bottom of the standings will have a chance to break out of some early slumps and play catch up with the division leaders. In addition, the lone remaining undefeated team, the Amarillo Wranglers, return from a two week break to put their 6-0 record on the line.
It was another good week for NCAA commitments as four more players make NCAA Division I commitments as the current season total is now up to 94 committed players.
In the Central this week, Scott Langer makes his return behind the bench for the Aberdeen Wings as they are in Austin to take on the Bruins. The 1st place North Iowa Bulls put their five-game winning streak on the lone this weekend as they host the Minot Minotauros. Both Bismarck and St. Cloud are idle.
In the East, the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks face a tall task as they will try and snap their 10-game losing streak with a series in Maryland against the 1st place Black Bears, who are off to a 10-2-0 start. The hottest team in the NAHL, the Northeast Generals, who have won seven straight games, will take to the ice at home against the New Jersey Titans. The final series as Johnstown back from a bye and looking to snap their five-game losing streak as they host the Philadelphia Rebels.
In the Midwest, the 1st place Kenai River Brown Bears are off to a 9-3-0- start and put their six-game winning streak on the line as they have their home-opening series against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, who have lost three in a row. The Chippewa Steel are riding high after their home sweep last weekend as will be hosting the Springfield Jr. Blues. The Wisconsin Windigo are back on home ice as they start a new rivalry with the Janesville Jets.
In the South Division, the Wranglers put their perfect 6-0 record on the line as they host the Shreveport Mudbugs, who are off to a 3-5-2 start. The El Paso Rhinos are back in action as they travel to Odessa for the Jackalopes home-opening series. The final series as the Lone Star Brahmas putting their 1st place 8-1 record and six-game winning streak on the line as they host the Corpus Christi IceRays, who have lost three in a row, including two last weekend at home to the Brahmas.
