Bruins, Bobcats, Warriors, Nordiques, Wilderness win on Wednesday
Bismarck defenseman Michael Neumeier had a goal and two assists in an 8-1 win on Wednesday.
Austin 3 @ St. Cloud 0: The Austin Bruins shutout the St. Cloud Norsemen in a 3-0 final. After a scoreless first period, Walter Zacher (2:33) scored on the power-play with Matthew Desiderio and Jack Malinski on the assist for a 1-0 score. In the third period, Gavin Morrissey (7:36) added to the Bruins lead with an unassisted goal. Dylan Cook (12:49) netted the final goal of the game with Walter Zacher and Parker Anderson adding on for the assists and a 3-0 final score. Ethan Robertson picked up his third shutout of the season as he stopped all 25 shots in the game.
Danbury 1 @ Maine 3: The Maine Nordiques trailed after the first period to rally back taking a 3-1 win against the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks. Danbury scored a goal late in the opening frame with Logan Nickerson (16:44) netting his fourth of the year on an unassisted goal for a 1-0 score. In the second period, Patrick Schmiedlin (10:19) lit the lamp for the eighth time this season with the help of Oliver Genest and Evan Orloff to tie the game 1-1. Soon after, the Nordiques took their first lead of the game with Brendan Gibbons (11:34) finding the back of the net with Filip Wiberg and Henrick Hallberg’s help on a power-play goal and a 2-1 score. In the third frame, Anthony Achille (2:51) added the final goal of the contest and his seventh goal of the season with Schmedlin and Aidan Coupe getting called on the assists for a 3-1 final score. Thomas Heaney earned the win in net stopping 15 of the 16 shots he faced.
Lone Star 1 @ Oklahoma 4: In a battle of the top ranked teams in the South Division, the Oklahoma Warriors topped the Lone Star Brahmas in a 4-1 final to edge towards the first place spot. Owen Baumgartner (6:31) opened up the scoring with the help of Malte Hasselgren and Owen Carlilie. Later in the period and on the power-play, Owen Carlilie (14:04) added to the Oklahoma lead, 2-1. In the second period, Blaise Miller (3:13) added another goal in favor of the Warriors with William Ahlrik and Malte Hasselgren on the assists. The Warriors were successful again on the power-play with Cole Teleki (17:23) scoring to extend the Warriors lead, 4-0. Early in the third period, the Brahmas got on the scoresheet with a goal from Will Laychur (0:43) who was assisted by Ray Murakami for a 4-1 final score. Daniel Duris stood tall between the pipes to earn the win stopping 12 shots.
Chippewa 1 @ Wilderness 2 (SO): The Minnesota Wilderness took the full two points as they won in a shootout over the Chippewa Steel, 2-1. The game did not see its first goal until the third period when Hunter Bulger (10:24) scored on the power-play for the Wilderness. Minutes later, Sam Rice (16:34) evened the game 1-1 with the help of Joey Sylvester and Joe Kelly. No goals were scored in the extra frame so the game went to a shootout where Ren Morque found twine to win the game for the Wilderness, 2-1. Isak Posch stopped 37 shots in net for the win.
Minot 1 @ Bismarck 8: The Bismarck Bobcats came out of the gates hot scoring four goals in the opening period and never looked back as they took an 8-1 win against the Minot Minotauros. The Bobcats got to work early with Vertti Jantunen (2:09) scoring on the power-play for a 1-0 score. Alexander Palchik (5:58/9:47) scored back-to-back goals to get the Bobcats ahead 3-0. The Bobcats were on the penalty kill when Erik Atchison (10:21) scored a shorthanded goal to make the score 4-0 to end the first period. The Bobcats kept on the attack right into the second period as Adam Pietila (3:03) netted his sixth of the year for a 5-0 game. Minutes later, Michael Neumeier (7:15) scored with the help of Luke Roelofs and Vertti Jantunen, 6-0. The offensive attack from Bismark continued as Erik Atchison (15:35) scored his second of the night for a 7-0 score. Minot got on the board nearing the end of the period with Weston Knox (18:17) scoring with David Nesburg and Hunter Longhi on the assists, 7-1. Late in the third period, Landon Fandel (19:45) scored for a final score of 8-1. Bismarck goaltender Lindards Lipskis was near perfect between the pipes, backstopping 32 shots in the win.
