Shreveport goalie Bucheler makes NCAA DI commitment

The Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that goaltender Simon Bucheler has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Mercyhurst University.
Bucheler, 20, is in his second and final season playing junior hockey in the NAHL. The 6’2/185 lbs. native of Saint-Laurent, Quebec, is having a very good season thus far in 2022-23.
Bucheler has appeared in 17 games and recorded a 11-4-1 record with a 1.98 goals against average and a .919 save percentage. His 1.98 goals against average currently ranks 5th in the NAHL and his 11 wins are tied for 5th.
“I am extremely honored and proud to announce my commitment to play NCAA Division 1 hockey and pursue my education at the University of Mercyhurst. I’d like to thank my family, friends, teammates and coaches who have supported me along the way. Go Lakers,” said Bucheler on social media.
Bucheler was named the South Division Star of the Week for October 10-16 when he stopped 54 of 58 shots and had an assist in two road wins in Amarillo.
Last season, Bucheler appeared in 19 games for the Mudbugs and posted a 7-9-1 record with a 2.68 goals against average and .909 save percentage.
