Johnstown forward Matousek makes NCAA commitment

The Johnstown Tomahawks of the North American Hockey League are pleased to announce that forward David Matousek has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire.
“David was a strong member of our organization for two seasons as well as a great person in our community. We were very fortunate to have him be a part of the Tomahawks organization,” said Johnstown Tomahawks Head Coach Mike Letizia. “We wish him nothing but the best in the next step of his hockey and educational career.”
Matousek, 20, compiled 25 points (9 goals,6 assists) in 57 games during the 2022-23 campaign. After being tendered by the Tomahawks in 2021, the 6’0/175 lbs. native of Karlovy Vary, Czechia, spent the last two seasons in Johnstown finding action in 118 career regular season games and recording 52 points.
“I’m very excited to go to Plymouth State next year and continue my hockey career,” said Matousek. “I am going to miss Johnstown and everyone there. I’ll forever be grateful for the opportunity to play for the Johnstown Tomahawks.”
Prior to his tenure with the Johnstown Tomahawks, David spent three total seasons playing in the NAPHL, which included two seasons with the Philadelphia Little Flyers organization and one with the Valley Forge Minutemen. He also played in the 2020-21 NAPHL 18U All-Star Game where he scored a goal.
While at Plymouth State he plans to study business.
