Anchorage defenseman Morris makes NCAA commitment

The Anchorage Wolverines of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that Top Prospects defenseman Cooper Morris has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for St. Norbert College.
Morris, 21, just completed his second and final season playing the NAHL for the Wolverines. The 6’2/190 lbs. native of Anchorage, AK, appeared in 57 regular season games during the 2022-23 campaign and recorded 35 points (2 goals, 33 assists), which was 2nd among all Wolverines defensemen.
“Cooper was an anchor for us on the defensive end. He played in every situation, and he was a guy you could count on to make the right play at the right time,” Head Coach Nick Walters said. “St. Norbert is getting a player that will be able to play up and down the lineup, but more importantly, a great kid on and off the ice.”
During the 2021-22 season, Morris put up 37 points (1 goal, 36 assists) in 60 regular season games. He also had two points in 10 Robertson Cup Playoff games. He was selected to and played in the 2022 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the Midwest Division Team where he had a goal in two games.
In 117 career NAHL games, Morris recorded 72 points.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Morris played youth hockey in the NAPHL for two seasons with the Alaska Oilers 16U team in 2018-19 and the Oilers 15U team in 2017-18.
