August 15, 2023

The Odessa Jackalopes, a proud member of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Ryan Mansfield has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Bentley University in Atlantic Hockey. Mansfield is now the tenth Jackalopes player to commit from the 2022-23 season.

Mansfield, 20, started his NAHL career in 2021-22 with the Jackalopes. During his rookie season, the Burlington, ON native produced 12 goals and 20 assists for 32 points through 56 games, putting him fourth on the team in points.

During the 2022-23, the 5’11/180 lbs. left-handed forward was selected by his teammates to be captain. Mansfield finished his final season of junior hockey leading Odessa in points (55) and assists (34). He also ends his NAHL career T-4th in Jackalopes franchise history in assists with 54. Mansfield was selected to represent Team South at the 2023 Top Prospects Tournament, where he notched four assists in two games.

Bentley University is located in Waltham, Massachusetts. The Falcons play in the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA). This season they will be led by first-year Head Coach Andy Jones.

“Getting the opportunity to play at Bentley University is a dream come true. Playing for Odessa these past two seasons has shaped me into the player and person I am today. Coach Deur and Coach Francis both played huge roles in my development and have helped grow my game to be able to succeed at the next level,” said Mansfield. “From the front office, coaches, teammates, billet families, and friends, thank you to everyone. I have received nothing but kindness and support over my two years in Odessa. Finally, thank you to my parents, who have sacrificed so much, and without them, this would not be possible. I am looking forward to the season and cannot wait to start things up.”

Head Coach Scott Deur stated this regarding Mansfield’s commitment, “Bentley is getting an unbelievable person on and off the ice. We are really excited for Ryan to play at a high level and we look forward to seeing what he does in the future.
