Wilderness defenseman Janzig makes NCAA DI commitment
The Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Beau Janzig has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the Air Force Academy in Atlantic Hockey.
Janzig, 19, just completed his first full season playing in the NAHL for the Wilderness. The 6’3/207 lbs. native of Hermantown, MN, appeared in 58 games during the 2022-23 regular season and recorded 23 points (5 goals, 18 assists). He also played in nine Robertson Cup Playoff games, helping the Wilderness to the Midwest title with three points.
“I’m very honored and proud to announce my commitment to further my education, serve my country and play Division 1 hockey at the Air Force Academy. Thank you to my family, friends, coaches and teammates who helped me along the way!” said Janzig on social media.
Janzig made his NAHL debut with the Wilderness during the 2021-22 season, appearing in eight games during the regular season and nine games during the 2022 Robertson Cup Playoffs.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Janzig played three seasons of high school hockey for Hermantown High.
He also played in the NAPHL FALL League for two seasons with the Minnesota Wilderness 18U team, recording three points in 11 NAPHL games during that time span. He also played in eight FALL League Playoff games, recording four points.
