Chippewa forward Willis makes NCAA DI commitment
The Chippewa Steel of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Aidan Willis has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the Air Force Academy in Atlantic Hockey.
Willis, 18, joined the Steel during the end of the 2022-23 regular season. The 5’11/176 lbs. native of Farmington, MN, appeared in 10 regular season games for the Steel and recorded three points. He also played in three Robertson Cup Playoff games, recording one point.
“I am honored to announce my commitment to further my education, serve my country, and play Division 1 hockey at the Air Force Academy. I want to thank my family, coaches, teammates, and everyone who has helped and supported me along this journey!” said Willis.
Prior to playing for the Steel, Willis was a standout forward for Lakeville South High in Minnesota. In three seasons with the team he appeared in 82 games and recorded 130 career points.
Willis is set to play for the Steel in 2023-24 season when they open up play on September 9th, hosting the Kenai River Brown Bears.
