NAHL Weekend Preview

The NAHL is back in action this weekend as October opens with 28 games on the schedule for Friday and Saturday.
There were three more NCAA Division I commitments this week, which brings the current 2023-24 season total to 91 players in the NAHL who have made commitments.
Several more teams open their home schedules this weekend, including the Minot Minotauros in the Central Division, the Anchorage Wolverines and Fairbanks Ice Dogs in the Midwest Division, and the El Paso Rhinos in the South Division.
This weekend in the Central, the 1st place Austin Bruins are back in action with a home-and-home series against the St. Cloud Norsemen. The Aberdeen Wings are on the road in Minot as the Minotauros play their first game since the Showcase. Bismarck and North Iowa are idle.
In the East, the 1st place Maryland Black Bears are in New Jersey to take on the Titans. The Johnstown Tomahawks are on the road to take on the Rochester Jr. Americans. The Philadelphia Rebels head North to take on the Maine Nordiques, and the New Hampshire Mountain Kings are in Danbury to take on the Jr. Hat Tricks.
In the Midwest Division, a battle of 1st and 2nd place goes down in Eagle River, WI, as the 2nd place Wisconsin Windigo host the 1st place Janesville Jets. Two Alaska teams open their home seasons as the Anchorage Wolverines host rival Kenai River on Friday, and then the Brown Bears will host the Wolverines on Saturday, and Fairbanks will be at home to host the Minnesota Wilderness. The other series as Springfield on the road looking for their first win as they travel to Chippewa.
In the South, two teams tied for 1st place, New Mexico and Shreveport will do battle in Louisiana. Ryan Anderson and the Amarillo Wranglers return to his old team in Lone Star to face the Brahmas. El Paso opens their home slate as they host the Odessa Jackalopes. The Oklahoma Warriors will travel South to take on the Corpus Christi IceRays.
