Colorado forward Riego de Dios makes NCAA DI commitment
The Colorado Grit of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Romulus Riego de Dios has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the Air Force Academy in Atlantic Hockey.
Riego de Dios, 19, is currently in his first season playing junior hockey in the NAHL for the expansion Grit. The 6’1/165 lbs. native of Gahanna, OH, is off to a great start for his junior career as he leads the team in scoring so far during the 2023-24 season with eight points (5 goals, 3 assists) in 13 games played.
“I am very honored and excited to announce my commitment to play division 1 college hockey at the United States Air Force Academy. Thank you to my coaches, teammates, friends, and everyone else who pushed to make me better everyday, supported me throughout my process, and believed in me every step of the way. Most importantly I would like to thank my mom for all the sacrifices she has made for me during my hockey career,” said Riego de Dios.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Riego de Dios spent four seasons playing for Culver Military Academy at the Prep and 16U levels.
He is the second player on the 2023-24 Grit roster who has made an NCAA Division I commitment.
