NAHL Weekend Preview
The NAHL continues play this weekend as October rolls on with 30 games on Friday and Saturday.
There were four more NCAA Division I commitments this week, which brings the current 2023-24 season total to 106 players in the NAHL who have made commitments.
This weekend also marks the second weekend of the NAHL’s Video Replay Review system specifically for goals. Each NAHL arena has been equipped with goal cameras, and referees will be able to view video replays in the penalty box or another location within close proximity to the ice surface. Referees will review goals and render decisions in accordance with specific parameters.
In the Central Division this weekend, it’s a battle for the top spot in the division as 1st place Austin hosts 2nd place Minot with the Minotauros just two points back. 3rd place is also up for grabs as the Aberdeen Wings take to the road to face the Bismarck Bobcats. The final series is a home-and-home match-up between North Iowa and St. Cloud.
In the East Division, 1st place Maryland is on the road to take on Danbury. The New Jersey Titans look to continue their winning ways as they host the Johnstown Tomahawks during an NAPHL T1ER event. The 2nd place Northeast Generals are in Rochester to take on the Jr. Americans. The final series has Maine in Philadelphia to take on the Rebels, but right now that series have been postponed.
The Midwest got going early this weekend as both Kenai River and Janesville picked up win on Thursday night. The Jets will look to keep it going against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, who have lost six straight games. The Brown Bears host Springfield two more times. In other action, the Wisconsin Windigo are in Anchorage to take on the Wolverines for two games and the red-hot Minnesota Wilderness look to extend their 8-game winning streak against the Chippewa Steel.
In the South, the Amarillo Wranglers put their 3-game winning streak on the line as they travel to Oklahoma to take on the Warriors. The 1st place El Paso Rhinos are on the road to face Odessa. Lone Star, who is also in 1st place, travels South to face Corpus Christi, and Shreveport is in Colorado to take on the Grit.
