Fairbanks forward Leonard makes NCAA DI commitment
The Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Gage Leonard has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.
Leonard, 17, is in his first season playing junior hockey in the NAHL for the Ice Dogs. The 5’11/195 lbs. native of Anchorage, AK, has appeared in 24 games to date during the 2023-24 regular season and recorded five points (2 goals, 3 assists).
“I am honored and excited to announce my commitment to further my education and play Division 1 hockey for the University of Fairbanks Alaska! I would like to thank all my teammates, coaches, friends, and especially my family for the continuous support to help me get to this point!” said Leonard.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Leonard played one season for the Victory Honda organization and also Team Alaska.
He is the first player on the 2023-24 Ice Dogs roster that is committed to play NCAA Division I hockey.
