Austin defenseman Zarsky makes NCAA DI commitment
The Austin Bruins, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defesemen Tristan Zarsky has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Brown University in the ECAC. Zarsky becomes the third Bruins player this season to make an NCAA Division I commitment
"I’m ecstatic about getting the opportunity to further my education and play Division 1 hockey at Brown University," stated Zarsky. "It’s a dream come true to pursue my academic ambitions at such a prestigious institution while also being able to further my career and fuel my passion for hockey. I want to thank my parents, family, coaches, mentors, friends, billets, and everyone who helped make this a reality for me."
The 20-year-old native of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, was acquired via a trade with the Shreveport Mudbugs in October. Since then, Zarsky (6’3/201) has appeared in 13 games for the Bruins and has 4 assists.
During his time with the Mudbugs, Zarsky played in 59 career regular-season games for Shreveport and recorded 11 points. He also appeared in eight Robertson Cup Playoff games last season.
Brown University is a private Ivy League research university in Providence, Rhode Island. Brown is the seventh-oldest institution of higher education in the United States as it was founded in 1764 as the College in the English Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. The Bears are members of ECAC Hockey and play at Meehan Auditorium
