NAHL Weekend Preview
After an extended break of 11 days for the holidays, the NAHL gets back into action this weekend with the final games of 2023.
There are 25 games on the schedule from Friday-Sunday.
At the halfway point, the race for the top spot in each division is still tight, as is the race for the playoff spots in each division.
It was another good couple of weeks for NCAA commitments as 10 more players made NCAA Division I commitments as the current season total is now up to 159 committed players.
In the Central Division this weekend, it’s a battle of the top two teams in the standings as the 1st place Minot Minotauros put their four-game winning streak on the line in a home-and-home three-game series against the Bismarck Bobcats. In other action, the Aberdeen Wings look to add to their season-high five-game winning streak as they host the St. Cloud Norsemen. The North Iowa Bulls look to snap their seven-game slide with a home-and-home series against the Austin Bruins.
In the East Division, the Johnstown Tomahawks look to get back on track as they look to snap a three-game slide with a home series against the Northeast Generals. The other series features the hottest team in the NAHL, the Maine Nordiques, riding a seven-game winning streak as they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Rebels.
In the Midwest, the 1st place Minnesota Wilderness host the Janesville Jets for pair of games. The other series has the Anchorage Wolverines in Chippewa to take on the Steel.
It’s a busy schedule in the South Division as the red-hot Shreveport Mudbugs put their five-game winning streak on the line as they host the Oklahoma Warriors. In other action, the Colorado Grit look to snap their losing skid as they host the El Paso Rhinos for three games. The Odessa Jackalopes are on the road for three games as they take on Corpus Christi on Friday and Saturday, and then travel to Lone Star on Sunday. The final series features the New Mexico Ice Wolves on the road Saturday and Sunday to take on the 3rd place Amarillo Wranglers.
