Shreveport forward Haldenby makes NCAA DI commitment

January 19, 2024

Haldenby has appeared in 35 games so far this season, racking up 31 points on 16 goals and 15 assists.

The Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Kyan Haldenby has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Canisius College in the Atlantic Hockey Conference.

Haldenby, 19, is playing his first season with the Mudbugs and first in the NAHL. The Toronto, Ontario native entered his third season of junior hockey this year and has already made a significant impact in Shreveport. The 6’1/190 lbs power forward has appeared in 35 games so far this season, racking up 31 points on 16 goals and 15 assists.

“I’m extremely proud and excited to announce my commitment to play Division 1 hockey and further my education at Canisius University. I’d like to thank my family, friends, teammates, coaches, and everyone who has helped me along the way,” said Haldenby.

Haldenby had his strongest offensive output in December where he kicked off the month recording 6 points in a three-game series against the Corpus Christi IceRays. His scoring touch has picked up even more as of late, logging 2 goals and 5 points in his last 3 games. His 31 points place him 2nd on the roster, a point behind Air Force commit Hayden Nichol.

He is the fourth player on the 2023-24 Mudbugs roster who is committed to play NCAA Division I hockey.
