Aberdeen defenseman Anderson makes NCAA DI commitment
The Aberdeen Wings of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Jackson Anderson has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
“I am proud to announce my commitment to the University of Alaska Fairbanks to continue my education and hockey career. I would like to thank my family, friends, teammates, and coaches who have helped me along the way,” said Anderson.
Anderson, 19, is playing his 2nd season of junior hockey, both with the Wings. The Prior Lake, Minnesota native joined Aberdeen early on in the 2022-23 campaign after a short stint for the Des Moines Buccaneers. Anderson played 50 games in his rookie season, where he tallied 4 goals and 15 assists. He has improved his offensive production this year, on pace for 27 points after recording 16 (4 goals, 12 assists) in 29 games so far.
“Jackson's game has elevated our play as a team; he is reliable defensively and can add offense when needed. He is a big minute player for this team, and he will be a very good college athlete,” said Scott Langer, head coach & GM of the Aberdeen Wings.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Anderson played three seasons with his hometown Prior Lake High School team.
Anderson will join former Wings players Cade Neilson, Payton Matsui, and Kyle Gaffney. They currently have a 12-9-2 record under Head Coach Erik Largen and Assistant Head Coach Chris Brown. He is the 4th Aberdeen Wing committed to playing NCAA Division I hockey.
