Maryland Forward Smith makes NCAA DI Commitment
The Maryland Black Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Harrison Smith has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Sacred Heart University in the Atlantic.
The 18-year-old from Wellington, Florida, is heading to Connecticut. Smith is a rookie on the Maryland Black Bears. This season, he has found the back of the net twice, both goals being the game-winning goals. He leads his squad with 20 total points and 18 assists, while is tied for first with his +8 rating on the season.
“I just want to thank the Maryland Black Bears organization and the coaches for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing organization," said Smith. “It truly makes me be on my game every night. I want to bring home something special for the people of Maryland.”
“Smitty has come in and proven himself as an elite player at the junior level. He is exciting to watch and makes players around him that much better when he has the puck on his stick., said Maryland’s head coach, Clint Mylmok. “He has a great passion for the game, and will continue to get better and better as the season progresses. We are happy for Harrison and his family. Sacred Heart is getting an amazing person and talented player.”
Smith is one of seven players to commit to play Division I college hockey on the Maryland Black Bears.
