The Northeast Generals of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that goaltender Carson Barnes has committed to play NCAA Division III for University of New England in the CNE.
The 6’1 netminder from Burlington, Vermont is heading to Maine to play as a Nor’easter. Barnes is a first-year skater in the NAHL. He started his season with the Elmira Aviators before being acquired by the Generals. The ‘04 goaltender has laced up in 43 matchups between the squads.
Head coach of the Generals, Bryan Erickson, shares more on Barnes’ work ethic and excitement for him to head to University of New England.
“Carson Barnes is a great kid and everything you want a player to be when representing your organization. He is an incredibly hard worker, attentive to the details and just a workhorse on the net. We were lucky to acquire him from Elmira and he has been solid since the day we got him. His mature presence in the locker room and on the ice has been fantastic and a great example for our young roster. UNE is a great place for him and we are excited to watch him continue his strong play at the next level”
Barnes is one of 12 members of the Northeast Generals to make a college ice hockey commitment.
