The Rochester Jr. Americans of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Alex Zakrzewski has committed to play NCAA hockey for SUNY-Cortland in the SUNYAC.
The Buffalo, New York native will be hitting the ice as a Red Dragon in the fall. The second-year skater was the Captain of the Jr. Americans. This past year the blueliner hit the ice for 56 games with Rochester. He found the back of the net three times and featured 19 assists. In his debut season with the New York team, Zakrzewski laced up for 64 contests and produced a 39-point season. He scored five goals, made 39 assists, and featured a +29 rating in the Jr. Americans' debut season as an organization.
Zakrzewski will not be heading to SUNY-Cortland alone, he will continue to skate with his fellow teammate, JC Humphreys.
Head Coach of the Jr. Americans, Francois Methot, shares more on what he has seen from the captain.
“Alex will always be our captain. Smaller in stature, he is willing to do everything possible to help his team win. Great person off the ice, he was the heart and soul of our team for two years. We were very fortunate to have him as part of our program for two years. He will have a great college career at Cortland.”
