Elmira Forward Emery makes NCAA Commitment

The Elmira Aviators of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Ian Emery has committed to play NCAA hockey for St. John Fisher University in the UCHC.

The 6’0 righty from Rochester, New York, is staying in the Empire State to skate with the Cardinals in the fall. Emery is a second-year veteran in the NAHL. This past season he was acquired in early February from the Shreveport Mudbugs. With the Aviators, Emery laced up in 18 games, registering two assists for the New York team. While down South with the Shreveport Mudbugs, the ‘05 skater hit the ice in 42 contests, tallying six goals and eight assists. Two of his goals were scored on the man advantage, while one goal was scored on the penalty kill. 

Last year, the 19-year-old played in 33 games with the Mudbugs. Emery found the back of the net once, and he produced eight assists. 

He has played in a total of 93 games over two seasons, recording seven goals and 18 assists during his time in the NAHL. 

Head Coach of the Aviators, Dom Manachio, shares the impact Emery had on the Aviators program in a short period of time.

“It was great to see Ian Emery get to continue his student-athlete career at a school where he wanted to be. Although Emery's time with us was short, only acquiring near the deadline, Ian’s leadership, grit, and dedication have made a lasting impact on our program. We’re excited to watch him continue his journey as a student-athlete close to home.”

Emery is one of 10 members of the Elmira Aviators to make a college ice hockey commitment.
