Wisconsin Goaltender Altman makes NCAA Commitment

July 28, 2025

Beau Altman at the 2025 Robertson Cup

The Wisconsin Windigo of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that goaltender Beau Altman has committed to play NCAA hockey for University of Dubuque in the NCHA.

The 6’0 netminder from the State of Hockey, Beau Altman, will play in the blue paint with the Spartans in the fall. The 20-year-old is a second-year veteran of the NAHL. He played in 21 contests with the Windigo, spotlighting a .926 save percentage, 2.12 goals against average, and a 13-4-1 record for the year. Altman served as a cornerstone piece of the Windigo in the postseason. His two shutouts for the year were notched in the playoffs. The first one happened in game three of the Midwest Division Finals against the Anchorage Wolverines. He produced a 25-save shutout performance and ultimately helped Wisconsin to punch their ticket to Blaine, Minnesota for the first time in organizational history.

His second shutout happened against the reigning Robertson Cup Champions, the Lone Star Brahmas, in game one of the Robertson Cup Semifinals. Altman turned away all 30 shots and helped to lead the Windigo to a 1-0 series lead over the Brahmas.

Last season, Altman played six games with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and five games with the Willmar Warhawks in the NA3HL.

Alongside Altman this upcoming season, four fellow NAHL players will be joining him at the University of Dubuque. Skating with him as a Spartan will be Zak Wentworth from the St. Cloud Norsemen, Charlie Ashton from the Oklahoma Warriors, Andon Coles from the Springfield Jr. Blues, and his fellow Windigo teammate, Zach Cline.

Head Coach of Windigo, John Mitchell, explains the impact Altman made on the Wisconsin Windigo roster.

“Beau was a beloved member of our organization. Within moments of arriving, his love of the game showed through his actions and body language around the rink. Him and Lucas backstop one of the best goalie tandems in the league. We could not have done what we did without Beau. He will realize tremendous success at Dubuque, and we are excited to see him around the city of Milwaukee when he comes back to play.”

Altman is one of nine members of the Wisconsin Windigo to make a college ice hockey commitment.
