The Minot Minotauros of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Gavin Middendorf has committed to play NCAA hockey for University of Wisconsin-River Falls in the WIAC.

Hailing from Forest Lake, Minnesota, Middendorf will be lacing up with the Falcons in the fall. The 5’10 righty is a second-year veteran of the NAHL. This past season, he started his 2024-25 campaign with the Chippewa Steel, hitting the ice in 24 games. While with the Wisconsin-based roster, he found the back of the net nine times while producing 11 assists. He was effective on the power play because five of his nine goals with Chippewa were scored on the man advantage. Middendorf was then acquired by Minot in December. In his 35 games with the Tauros, he tallied 26 goals, 10 assists, and featured over a point per game. His offensive prowess ranks him first on the Minot roster with his 35 goals on the year.

Last year, he played in 43 games for the Steel where he found the back of the net nine times and made 15 assists. Three of his goals were named the decider in games.

Head Coach of the Minotauros, Cody Campbell, explains more on the impact of acquiring Middendorf.

“We are happy for Gavin and his family. We acquired Gavin around Christmas and he made an immediate impact offensively for us. He is poised to have a fantastic freshmen year at River Falls.”

Middendorf will join 20+ NAHL alumni on UW-River Falls. UW-River Falls, which is located 30 minutes from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, plays in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) and are 19-time WIAC Champions. The three-time NCAA National Champions play their home games out of the brand new 65-million-dollar W.H. Hunt Arena, located directly on campus.

Middendorf is one of 12 members of the Minot Minotauros to make a college hockey commitment.
