The Lone Star Brahmas of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Zdenek Dobes has committed to play NCAA hockey for SUNY Potsdam in the SUNYAC.

The 6’2 blueliner from St. Louis, Missouri, is heading back East to New York to play with the Bears in the fall. Dobes is a fourth-year veteran of the NAHL. This past season, he hit the ice in 45 games with the Brahmas, where he found the back of the net twice, while producing four assists. One of his goals was scored on the man advantage, and one was named as the decider in the contest.

Last year, he laced up in 23 games for the Brahmas, helping the team secure the Robertson Cup trophy. Prior to joining the Brahmas, he laced up in 15 games for the Corpus Christi IceRays over two seasons. Dobes played a total of 83 games in the NAHL.

Head Coach of the Brahmas, Dan Wildfong, shares his excitement for Dobes and his next step in his hockey career.

“Dobes was a steady player for us, and he did everything and anything for the team. You could always catch a smile on his face. We are excited to see his next step this upcoming fall.”

Dobes is one of 15 members of the Lone Star Brahmas to make a college hockey commitment.
