The Austin Bruins of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Emil Samuelsson has committed to play NCAA hockey for Gustavus Adolphus College in the MIAC.
The 6’1 lefty from Stockholm, Sweden, is staying in the State of Hockey to skate with the Golden Gusties in St. Peter, Minnesota. Samuelsson hit the ice in 59 games for the Bruins, tallying eight goals and 15 assists for the Minnesota roster. The ‘04 skater featured two game-winning goals and a +6 rating.
The skater will have a familiar face in the fall, because his Austin teammate, Ludvig Mellgren, will also lace up for Gustavus Adolphus College.
Head Coach of the Bruins, Steve Howard, shares his excitement for Samuelsson’s next step.
“We’re really proud of Emil. He’s a hard-working player, and his commitment to getting better every day is what helped him earn this opportunity with Gustavus. He came to Austin with the goal of playing college hockey, and it’s been great to see that hard work pay off. We’ll be cheering him on as he takes this next step.”
Samuelsson is one of 13 members of the Austin Bruins to make a college ice hockey commitment.
