Lone Star Alternate Captain Rizzo makes NCAA Commitment

The Lone Star Brahmas of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Zach Rizzo has committed to play NCAA hockey for Tufts University in the NESCAC.

The 21-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, is heading up North to play in Connecticut for the Jumbos in the fall. Rizzo is a second-year veteran of the Brahmas. This past season, he laced up in 46 games for the Brahmas. The 5’11 blueliner found the back of the net twice, while producing 13 assists. One of his goals was named the decider in a contest. He was also named a Top Prospect on the South Division team at the 2025 Top Prospects Tournament.

Last year, the Georgia native played in 36 games for Lone Star. He tallied two goals and two assists for the Texas team. Rizzo was also a member of the 2024 Robertson Cup Championship roster, helping the team take home its second Robertson Cup in organization history.

Rizzo played in a total of 82 games in the purple and black, totaling 19 career points for the Lone Star Brahmas.

Head Coach of the Brahmas, Dan Wildfong, went into detail on how he has seen Rizzo’s game grow during his time in Texas.

“Rizzo was able to really hone his game and got better every day on the ice. He left the Brahmas program better than he found it and was detail-oriented. We are excited to see his next step in his hockey career.”

Rizzo is one of 15 members of the Lone Star Brahmas to make a college hockey commitment.
