The Minot Minotauros of the North American Hockey League are pleased to announce the promotion of Tyler Ebner as the organization’s fifth head coach.
Ebner once skated in the League of Opportunity and he will now step into the role as Head Coach for the Minot Minotauros. Ebner began working for the Tauros as an Assistant Coach for the 2023-24 season and has spent the past two seasons in that role. Prior to serving in that position, he spent a season coaching NCAA hockey at SUNY-Fredonia as an Assistant Coach.
Prior to his coaching career, the Wisconsin native played two seasons in the NAHL with the Coulee Region Chill, hitting the ice in 87 games notching 24 career points. Following his junior career, Ebner laced up playing NCAA Division III hockey for Gustavus Adolphus College. He played four seasons for the Minnesota program in a total of 76 games.
Ebner shares his excitement to be named as the next Head Coach for the North Dakota program.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be named the Head Coach of the Minot Minotauros. Minot has been a top organization in the NAHL for a long time, and I am excited for this opportunity to further the organization’s commitment to excellence and emphasis on NCAA Division I commitments. I’m extremely grateful to both Cody Campbell and Brad Porter for their continued belief in my ability to help prepare our players for future success both on the ice and in the community.”
The promotion of Ebner follows a restructuring of the Hockey Operations Staff for the Minotauros. Cody Campbell will now focus solely on the General Manager role as Ebner will serve as the bench boss.
Governor of the Minotauros Brad Porter shares more on the decision to separate the General Manager and Head Coach role.
“Our goal has always been to provide our players every tool necessary to get to the NCAA Division I level. This adjustment is part of maintaining that expectation of ourselves with an ever changing landscape.”
