Janesville Goaltender Smith makes NCAA DI Commitment

The Janesville Jets of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that goaltender Kaenan Smith has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for University of Minnesota - Duluth in the NCHC.
The 17-year-old netminder from the State of Hockey has committed to his hometown team. Smith is a first-year player in the League of Opportunity. Over the summer, he laced up for Team USA in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, helping his team secure the Gold Medal at the event. It has been 22 years since Team USA won gold at the annual event.
The 6’2 netminder has played a total of five games for the Jets this season. He features a 1.54 goals against average and a .945 save percentage. Smith featured a 3-1 record in September, and he was additionally named as the runner-up for September’s Goaltender of the Month.
Smith is a hometown kid of the Division I program. He shares on social media what it means to receive an offer from the program.
“I am so blessed and honored to announce my commitment to play Division I hockey at the University of Minnesota Duluth. I want to thank my family, coaches, friends, advisor, and God for making all of this possible for me.”
Head Coach of the Jets, Lennie Childs, explains what it means to see Smith make his commitment.
“Kaenan is a special goalie and an outstanding individual. We are very proud of him for making his commitment and excited to work with him every day to become the best goalie and person he can be.”
Smith is one of three members of the Janesville Jets to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
