Sunday Wrap-up: Anchorage Battled From Behind to Secure Win
The Wolverines notched a 4-3 victory over the Jr. Blues
Luc Bydal secured the first goal of the contest
Springfield 3 @ Anchorage 4 - Coming off a 6-4 win the night before, the Springfield Jr. Blues were ready to take on the Anchorage Wolverines again at Sullivan Arena. Springfield got the scoring started in an otherwise quiet first period, the only goal coming from Padraic Whited. However, Anchorage was determined to keep its scoring chances high, something that paid off as the game continued. Anchorage picked up the pace in the second, with Luc Bydal putting the Wolverines on the board, and Caleb Mahar adding another before Springfield’s Brady Turner tied the game back up. About a minute later, Whited added another point to give the Jr. Blues a 3-2 lead heading into the third period. Anchorage was not done there, though. In the final 20 minutes, the Wolverines answered back with two late goals from Connor Jalbert and Cale Quamme that would complete their comeback. Despite the loss, goaltender Amir Valiullin made a solid 31 saves for the Jr. Blues. Liam Ernst was in net for the Wolverines, making 18 saves to help secure the 4-3 win.
