Thursday Thriller: Thanksgiving Showdown at the Riverside Arena
North Iowa 2 @ Austin 5 - The Austin Bruins play host to the North Iowa Bulls in a Thursday Thanksgiving showdown. The contest kicked off with the Bruins lighting the lamp first, thanks to a tally by Alvin Elisson at the 15:09 minute mark. Following him, the Bulls strike back with a goal of their own five minutes later by Jack Sullivan. Austin would retake the lead with a power-play goal by EJ Paddington at the 6:25 minute mark in the opening frame. The second period featured the Air Force commit, Zander Lipsett, scoring on the man advantage to give the Bruins a 3-1 lead moving into the final 20 minutes of regulation. Austin’s Gavin Hruza scored midway through the final frame, extending the Bruins’ lead. With 2:33 left on the clock, Michael Coleman scores the final Austin goal while on the man advantage to give Austin the 5-1 lead. With one second on the clock, North Iowa was able to show up on the scoresheet once again, thanks to a power-play tally by Michael Malatino in the final second of the game. Between the pipes, Jack Solomon turned away 28 out of 30 shots, helping his team secure the victory.
