Thursday Thriller: Springfield Defeats Anchorage in 5-2 Fashion

Anchorage 2 @ Springfield 5 - The Springfield Jr. Blues cleared out the Anchorage Wolverines on home ice during yesterday morning's home slate. But starting with the scoring in the first period, the Wolverines opened the score when Rylan Bydal set up fellow Luc Bydal to blast one in. Then, minutes later, the Blues went on the power play and took advantage of the opportunity, as Owen Lowe tied the score before going into the second.  As for the middle frame, Jack McKenna broke the tie for the Wolverines seven minutes into the period. But then three minutes later, the Blues tied it again on another power play run, when Zach Howard tied the score at two after being sauced by Josh Zitzman. That power play run must have given the Blues the momentum to turn the game in their favor, as after the tie goal generated by Howard, Springfield went on a tear and scored three unanswered goals. Before the second concluded, Drew Albrecht sniped one in to grab the go-ahead lead with Mason Benedict and Ryan McPartland carrying the assists. ​ Later in the third, Benedict scored a goal when Brayden Sprickman saucered one to him, extending the lead to two. Then at the five-minute mark, Theodor Boden called it a game after tucking one in past Kai Weigel. The three stars of the game went to Mason Benedict with a goal and an assist, Drew Albrecht with a goal, and Sam Doyon-Cataquiz with 29 saves.
