The Northeast Generals of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Spencer Hirsch has committed to play NCAA hockey for Williams College in the NESCAC.

Hirsch will stay in the state of Massachusetts and continue his hockey career collegiately with the Ephs in the fall. The 6-foot-3 lefty is a second-year veteran of the Generals. The Delray Beach, Florida native has appeared in 33 games this season for Northeast. He has tallied 13 goals, ranking second overall on his roster with that number. Hirsch has already tied his last season's record of 13 goals. His offensive production also continues with his ability to produce assists, notching 11 so far this season. One of his goals this year was named the game-winner, while four goals were scored on the man advantage. This season, he featured back-to-back season-high three-point games in mid-October.

The ‘05 skater in his rookie year laced up for Northeast in 58 games, finding the back of the net 13 times while producing 17 assists. Just like this season, Hirsch was one of the top scorers on last year’s Generals roster. He ranked third overall with his 13 tallies and fourth overall with his 30 points on the season.

The Sunshine State skater will join two other NAHL players at Williams College in the fall. Playing for the Ephs will be Mitchell McCusker from the Kenai River Brown Bears and Sloan Farmer from the New Mexico Ice Wolves.

Head coach of the Generals, Bryan Erickson, explains why Hirsch has been a key asset for the Generals and why Williams College is getting a great player.

“I am so happy for and proud of Spencer! Just a great person and player. Spencer was great from day one for us. But he earned ice time with his effort and hockey IQ. He was immediately important to our penalty kill, where he is absolutely fantastic. He also kept his play very simple.  Pucks in, run the forecheck, and get to the net.  He finished his first year with us with 30 points.  And now he has improved the offensive part of his game while still being one of our most reliable players. His work ethic and understanding of the game puts him in incredible positions to have success, and he takes advantage of his chances to score big goals for us. Williams is getting a great person and player, and we are pumped to have Spencer help us down the stretch both on and off the court, to complete our goals.”

Hirsch is one of four members of the Northeast Generals to make a college ice hockey commitment.
