Thursday Thriller: Janesville Skates away with big win while in Alaska
Janesville 5 @ Kenai River 1 - The Janesville Jets continued their road trip in Alaska and snapped their losing streak with a big win against the Kenai River Brown Bears. The Jets get the scoring started thanks to a tally by Connor Hillig at the 6:30 minute mark of the opening period. Following that, Sammy Smith finds twine with six seconds left on the clock, giving Janesville the 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. The second frame featured a trio of goals by the Wisconsin team. First, Murray Marvin-Cordes found twine midway through the period to extend the Jets’ lead. Following him a little over three minutes later, Sammy Smith secures his second goal of the night. Finally, Janesville’s Joseph Hyten lights the lamp on the man advantage to give extra insurance to the Jets’ 5-0 lead. The third period spotlights Kenai River notching a goal in front of their home crowd with a goal by Koen Burkholder around the eight-minute mark. The Jets skate away with a big 5-1 victory. Between the pipes for Janesville, Kaenan Smith turned away 22 out of 23 shots on net, securing a win in the blue paint.
