Sunday Wrap-up: The Wisconsin Windigo Shutout the Chippewa Steel

Chippewa 0 @ Wisconsin 5 - The Steel and Windigo faced off for a third time in a row Sunday evening. The Windigo took Friday’s matchup 5-1, and the Steel took Saturday’s matchup 5-2. Both teams looked for a win to close the weekend on a high note. The Windigo struck first on a goal off the faceoff by Callen Grillz, assisted by McCarthy Richardson and Brendan Finley, four minutes into the game. The Windigo would extend their lead 2-0 on a goal by Beau Kralovec, assisted by Brayden Severin, with just under three minutes to play in the first. In the second, the lone goal came from Kralovec, his second of the night, for the Windigo, assisted by Will Doherty at 13:40. The Windigo took a 3-0 lead into the second intermission. In the third, the Steel had many close scoring chances, but could not find the back of the net. The Windigo would extend their lead just under seven minutes left in the game on a goal by Quinten Flores, his first since joining the Windigo after starting the season with the Steel. He was assisted by Jackson Ernst and Ryan Mottau. The Windigo would add one more with Ernst sealing the deal for the home team, 5-0. Windigo goaltender, Max Larsson, posted the team’s first shutout of the season. The Windigo take the weekend series with two games to one. Both teams will meet again in Chippewa Falls for a rematch the following weekend.
