The Bismarck Bobcats of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Mark Evans has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Robert Morris University in the Atlantic.
The 5-foot-10 lefty hailing from the Keystone State, Evans will return to his roots and commit to his hometown team. The ‘07 skater has laced up in 35 games, tallying 10 goals and 21 assists. His offensive prowess in his first season of junior hockey has been displayed on the ice. He has scored two game-winning goals and three power-play goals. He features a +8 rating from his 35 games played. On his roster, Evans is one of the top scorers, ranking fourth overall in goals (10) and total points (31).
The Pennsylvania native shares why committing to the Colonials is a full-circle moment.
“RMU is a great spot for me because it is the same rink where I began my hockey career at four years old. I am beyond grateful to be playing in my hometown city, and thankful for the opportunity to continue to develop as a person and a player.”
Head coach of the Bobcats, Garrett Roth, went into detail on what it means to see Evans get this opportunity.
“I could not be more excited for Mark and his family for this well-deserved opportunity to get an education and play Division I hockey back in his hometown. He has brought a passion and work ethic to the rink every day that has allowed him to continue his development over the course of the season.
Roth shared more on the rookie skater’s ability on the ice.
“Mark has been an impact player for us and is one of the best first-year junior players in our league. His focus and dedication to putting in the work will play a major role in him being a great fit for Coach Schooley and the Robert Morris Program. This commitment has been a lifelong goal and something Mark has strived for throughout his playing days and I couldn’t be happier to see it pay off for such a great young man.”
Evans is one of 10 members of the Bismarck Bobcats to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
