Thursday Tilt: North Iowa Continue Winning Ways at Home

Minnesota M 3 @ North Iowa 6 - The North Iowa Bulls hosted the Minnesota Mallards in an exciting Central Division showdown on Thursday night. The Bulls were ready for this match, having won two games against the St. Cloud Norsemen the previous weekend. North Iowa started with a strong offense, netting two goals early in the first. These goals came from two of the Bulls’ top goal scorers, Fuji Suzuki and Denis Kuzmenkov. Suzuki, who currently leads the team in points this season, scored less than a minute into play. Kuzmenkov followed with his fourteenth of the season soon after. Ty Gordon ended the period by getting the Mallards on the board, making the score 2-1. The Bulls extended their lead in the middle frame, adding two power-play goals from Denis Hodas and Michael Malatino. Wes Berg capped off the second period scoring with another goal for the Mallards, assisted by Lewis Majkozak and Colin Simpson. Both teams saw multiple power-play opportunities in the final twenty minutes. Andrej Tomasec scored on an early power play for the Bulls. Gordon responded quickly for the Mallards while his team was on a man advantage, scoring his second goal of the match. Hodas then capped off scoring for North Iowa with his second power-play goal of the night, making the final score 6-3. Aaron Sachs was in net for the Bulls, making 13 saves to earn his eighth win of the season.
