Janesville Defenseman Bloink makes NCAA DI Commitment

The Janesville Jets of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Justin Bloink has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for University of Alaska-Fairbanks.

The 18-year-old from South Lyon, Michigan, Bloink has committed to skate with the Nanooks program. The 5-foot-11 defenseman is in his first season of playing in junior hockey and has already shown up on the scoresheet multiple times. The ‘07 skater features four goals and 14 assists in 34 games played. Two of his tallies were the decider in contests, and two were scored on the man advantage. He ranks second among defensemen on his roster in goals, assists, and total points.

Prior to joining the Jets, Bloink was one of the top players in Michigan high school hockey last season. The 18-year-old helped to lead his team, Detroit Catholic Central High School, to a state championship for their sixth consecutive title while being named the Warrior Hockey Player of the Year.

The first-year blueliner shares what it means to secure a commitment.

“I am very excited to announce my commitment to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks! I am extremely thankful for my family, friends, coaches, and everyone who has helped and supported me along the way. Thank you to the coaches at UAF for giving me this opportunity.”

Head coach of the Jets, Lennie Childs, explains what impact Bloink has had on the team.

“Justin has been a top defenseman for us all season. He has an excellent skating ability that allows him to break out the puck and be elusive on the offensive blue line. We are very happy for him and his family! Alaska-Fairbanks is a great school and has the same development mindset that we do here in Janesville. He will be a great fit on and off the ice.”

Bloink is one of 10 members of the Janesville Jets to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
