Saturday Scores: Amarillo Skate Away with Shootout Win at Home

New Hampshire 0 @ Danbury 3 - The New Hampshire Mountain Kings went on the road to take on the Danbury Hat Tricks. Both teams started the game off slow for the first 16 minutes, but with 3:42 remaining in the opening period, the Hat Tricks would find the back of the net. Ludovik Gauvin scored the goal, Brendan Boring and Kai Elkie picked up the assist. In the second period, the Hat Tricks would score in less than a minute, Brady Walters scoring with an assist from Matt Shpungin and Patrik Ula. Later in the second period, the Hat Tricks would score again, Kai Elkie scoring, assisted by Aiden Stamm and Brendan Boring, picking up his second assist of the game. The rest of the game would be scoreless to secure the win for the Hat Tricks. The Hat Tricks shut out the Mountain Kings at home 3-0.

Philadelphia 2 @ New Jersey 4 - The Philadelphia Rebels went on the road to take on the New Jersey Titans. Both teams would be silent in the opening period with both defenses holding strong, leading to a 0-0 tie going into the second period. Early in the second period, the Rebels would strike first with a goal from Dylan Moran, Ryan Bunting, and Abzal Alibek getting the assist. Just a minute later, the Rebels would score again, Luke Hogan scoring with an assist from Mikey Conlon. The Titans would then answer back with their first goal of the game. Johnathon Lanza is scoring, being assisted by Archer Brown and Hudson Slenker. The Titans would then tie the game late in the second period, Joe Pocrnic tying the game up, Nikolas Doumas and Matt Hanscom picking up the assist. In the final period, the Titans would take the lead for the first time, Joe Pocrnic scoring another goal, Eduard Gubeladze and Christian Bifano with the assist. With just 1:32 left on the clock, the Titans would score the dagger, Archer Brown getting the goal and Arseniy Zharikov and Skogen Schrott picking up the assist. The Titans defeat the Rebels 4-2 at home.

Corpus Christi 2 @ Odessa 0 - In an exciting matchup at Ector County Coliseum, the Corpus Christi IceRays earned a close 6-5 victory against the Odessa Jackalopes. The IceRays got to an early start in the contest with two power-play goals scored in the first period by Nikita Konevych and Emil Obstfelder. Both clubs would score two goals apiece in the middle frame, and they headed into the final period with high momentum. Nick Evans notched in the fifth goal for Corpus Christi, but shortly after, the Jackalopes responded with three goals to tie up the contest. In the final two minutes of play, Nick Sinani earned the game-winning goal for Corpus Christi. Both goalies had impressive outings in net, with Corpus Christi’s Gavin Melcher earning 38 saves, and Odessa’s Ben Vatis making 31 saves for the night.

Elmira 2 @ Johnstown 4 - The Elmira Aviators went on the road to take on the Johnstown

Tomahawks. In the opening period, the Aviators would strike first with a goal from Ilya Baldin, Jake Baratta and Andrew Horn with the assist. In the second period, the Tomahawks would answer with a goal from Jack Genovese, Emerson Marshall picking up the assist. The Tomahawks would then take the lead for the first time with a power play goal from Charlie Zetterkvist, Emerson Marshall with another assist, and Jack Genovese getting an assist. The Aviators would then answer back a few minutes later, Corson Maguire scoring with an assist from Kevin Delaney and Brendan Bedorf. Right before the end of the period, the Tomahawks

would score on another power play. Justin Chiras scored, Jack Genovese and Emerson Marshall reached another assist. In the final period, the lone goal would belong to the Tomahawks to secure their win. Nick Jarmain would score on an empty net with an assist from Charlie Zetterkvist, and Jack Genovese would get another assist. The Tomahawks win at home over the Aviators 4-2.

Maine 3 @ Rochester 2 - The Maine Nordiques defeated the Rochester Jr. Americans in an exciting 3-2 match at Rochester Ice Center. Rochester earned the first goal of the night as Konner Powell found the back of the net at 3:43 in the opening frame. However, two Nordiques, Jack Klevby and Michael Sandruck, responded with a pair of goals scored in the second period. Rochester tallied one more in thanks to Ryan Shaw, but it was not enough to make a comeback. Maine’s Austin Borggaard secured the victory with his goal in the final frame to wrap up the close contest. Lukas Fursten defended the Nordiques with 34 saves in net, and Florian Wade earned 23 saves in net for Rochester.

Northeast 1 @ Maryland 4 - The Maryland Black Bears continue to dominate as they defeated the Northeast Generals 4-1 at Piney Orchard Ice Arena. Alejandro Blum scored the only goal for the Generals late in the first period, but they would lose their lead in the middle frame. Three Black Bears found the back of the net in the second period to give Maryland a comfortable lead, and Trey Hinton finished up the scoring in the third period with his second goal of the night. Keagin Wilson earned 40 saves between the pipes for Northeast, and Maryland’s Dom Gatto made 13 saves.

Fairbanks 9 @ Springfield 2 - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs took on the Springfield Jr. Blues at Nelson Center, where they earned a decisive 9-2 victory. Fairbanks got an early lead in the contest as they earned two goals in the opening frame. Thomas Gunderson had a night for the Ice Dogs as he led the fired-up offense with five goals for the night, earning four in the middle frame and one more to wrap up the scoring frenzy in the final period. Springfield notched two goals during the second period, scored by Zach Howard and Mason Benedict, but they were unable to keep up with Gunderson’s scoring efforts. Miles Roberts made 35 saves in net for Fairbanks, while Springfield’s Amir Valuillin and Nicolas Rempel made a combined 25 saves for Springfield.

Watertown 0 @ Aberdeen  3 - The Watertown Shamrocks shut out the Aberdeen Wings 3-0 on home ice despite being heavily outshot. After a scoreless first, Watertown struck first when Zach Boren found the back of the net in the second. The Shamrocks took a 1-0 lead into the intermission despite being outshot 26-11 through two periods. In the third, Watertown capitalized on a power play opportunity. Owen Chartier doubled the lead, and Justin Obrochta sealed the win with an empty-net goal with four seconds remaining. Aberdeen finished with a 40- Shamrocks’ goaltender Mason Gudridge turned aside all 40 attempts to earn the shutout.

Minot 6 @ Minnesota M 2 - The Minot Minotauros defeat the Minnesota Mallards 6-2 on the road. Minnesota opened the scoring in the first period when Cohen Hoening found the back of the net before Minot answered with a goal from Lucca Ori. The Mallards regained the lead late in the period, taking a 2-1 advantage in the intermission. The Minotauros took over in the second period, erupting for five goals, including one on the power play. In the final frame, both teams had opportunities, but neither was able to convert, and the score remained 6-2. This win helps the Minotaurs remain competitive in a tight Central Division, and the Mallards continue to struggle to string together wins.

North Iowa 1 @ Austin 2 - The Austin Bruins edged the North Iowa Bulls 2-1 in a tightly contested matchup at home. After a scoreless first period, North Iowa broke through late in the second with Michael Malatino opening the scoring. Austin responded less than two minutes later when EJ Paddington evened the game to send the teams into the intermission tied 1-1. In the third period, Paddington struck again as he gave the Bruins their first lead of the game. Austin held on the rest of the way to secure the 2-1 victory. The Bruins continue their dominant season as they sit at the top of the Central Division, while the Bulls fight to move up the standings.

Kenai River 2 @ Janesville 3 - The Janesville Jets edged the Kenai River Brown Bears 3-2 in a tightly contested matchup, powered by a strong first half. Janesville struck first midway through the opening frame on a power play, when Jonathan Lyskawa found the back of the net to make it 1-0. The Jets extended the lead in the second period to push the lead to 3-0. Kenai River responded in the third period, finally breaking through early when Gavin Jensen. Just under a minute later, Anthony McIntosh scored to cut the deficit to one and create late pressure, but the Jets held on defensively to secure the win. A 13-shot advantage proved to be the key to Janesville’s success as they maintained pressure throughout the game on their way to victory.

Shreveport 3 @ Amarillo 4 (SO) - In a tightly contested game at the Budweiser Bull Pen, the Wranglers were able to secure a shootout victory on home ice. The game kicked off with an unassisted goal by Amarillo’s Jake Boulanger in the opening period. The Mudbugs would strike back with back-to-back tallies at the start of the second period. First, Ryan Baert would find twine at the 19:32 minute mark with Duke Ehrhard lighting the lamp eight seconds later. The final three minutes of the middle frame spotlighted the Wranglers evening and the scoreboard shorthanded. Yury Karatai would score his second goal of the season. Moving into the third period, both teams would tally goals, first Amarillo’s Caden Hegarty on the man advantage. With 7:22 on the clock in the third, Shreveport’s Ehrhard scores his second of the night, giving the Mudbugs a chance to take the victory in extra minutes. As the game would be forced into overtime and an eventual shootout, Amarillo would skate away with the victory as Kolos Feher and Ty Izadi found twine in the shootout. Between the pipes, Casimir Weckstrom featured a 36-save performance, securing the victory for his team.

Anchorage 2 @ Minnesota W 6 - The Anchorage Wolverines continued their road trip against the Minnesota Wilderness, looking to pick up a series sweep against the division leaders. However, the Wilderness featured an offensive-heavy second period. The contest kicked off with Anchorage’s Chase Trompeter striking first with a goal at the 14:25-minute mark of the opening period. The scoring would pick back up midway through the second frame as Long Island commit, Luc Bydal, lights the lamp in unassisted fashion to give the Wolverines a 2-0 lead. As the Wolverines' scoring slowed down, the Wilderness took advantage. First, Zachary Homer would score his first of the night for Minnesota on the power play. Following him a minute later was Avery Anderson, tying up the game 2-2. Homer’s offensive prowess did not stop there; he would score his second goal of the frame with 6:39 remaining in the period. Finally, the Wilderness would double their lead in the second period with a shorthanded goal by Anthony Cappello. As the contest moved into the final period, Minnesota would add two more goals to the scoresheet. First, Cayden Neice finds twine for the second time of the season with 3:25 on the clock. Following him while securing a hat trick was Minnesota’s Homer with 46 seconds left on the clock. The Wilderness skated away with a 6-2 victory.

St. Cloud 1 @ Bismarck 4 - The Bismarck Bobcats continued their home series with the St. Cloud Norsemen on Saturday. The Bobcats got the scoring started with a duo of goals in the second period. Frantisek Broz and George Poirier one minute between each other. Following those two goals, the Norsemen lit the lamp thanks to Samuel Misak finding twine at the 2:26 minute mark. In the final frame, another set of goals were scored by Bismarck with Ben Rakowski and Theodore Richardson showing up on the scoresheet. The Bobcats skate away with a 4-1 victory.

Oklahoma 2 @ El Paso 11 - The Rhinos cruised to an outstanding 11–2 win over the Warriors. Oklahoma opened the scoring in the first period when Joey DeRosa scored at 19:01, assisted by Mack Blue and Trace Day. El Paso answered quickly as Vincent Gaudette tied the game at 13:44, assisted by Ian Kastamo and Kamden Kaiser, then Jackson Porco gave the Rhinos the lead at 13:30 with help from Jacob Solano and Gaige Giblin. El Paso broke the game open with a flurry of first-period goals. Alexi Gregoire scored at 11:43, Tommy Shore added one at 8:56, assisted by Ethan Woolcott and Raphael Laviolette, and Alexander Stephen scored a power-play goal at 4:52 from Charles Turner and Aidan Bergner to make it 5–1 after one. In the second period, Troy Hunka scored at 3:59 with assists from Kamden Kaiser and Jackson Potulny, and Nikolas Gentilini added another at 8:59, assisted by Chase Nyitray. Oklahoma got one back in the third when Easton Rooney scored at 1:26, assisted by Billy Stuski. The Rhinos capped the night with three third-period goals as Simon Nealy scored a power-play marker at 5:08, assisted by Massimiliano Monseu and Charles Turner, Ian Kastamo added another at 15:29 with help from Gaige Giblin, and Massimiliano Monseu finished the scoring at 0:23, assisted by Simon Nealy and Jackson Porco. El Paso outshot Oklahoma 43–31.
