Amarillo Defenseman O’Rourke makes NCAA Commitment

The Amarillo Wranglers of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Tiernan O’Rourke has committed to play NCAA hockey for Connecticut College in the NESCAC.

The ‘05 skater from Connecticut will head back to his home state to skate with the Camels in the fall. The 6-foot-2 blueliner has laced up in 39 games for the Wranglers, tallying two goals and 10 assists. He leads defensemen on his roster with 12 points on the season. Last season, O’Rourke played in 14 games with both the Danbury Hat Tricks and Wranglers in his debut season in the NAHL.

Head coach of the Wranglers, Michael Hill,  explains what he has seen from the blueliner all season.

“Tiernan O’Rourke’s commitment is a credit to the work and perseverance he’s shown every single day. As a right-shot defenseman, he battled through adversity early on and earned his role by doing things the right way. He developed into a dependable shutdown defenseman and became someone we could trust in every situation — whether it was five-on-five, on the power play, or on the penalty kill. His willingness to compete, adapt, and prioritize the team's interests is what allowed his game to take off. Connecticut College is getting a tough, reliable defenseman who understands how to impact a game in multiple ways.”

O’Rourke is the second member of the Amarillo Wranglers to make a college ice hockey commitment this season.
